If you weren’t aware, San Diego has its very own authentic vintage surf rock band playing all of the classic instrumental ’60s hits you know and love, and an excessive amount of the ones you’ve never even heard of. I have never met guys more authoritative on this subject than Dave, Tony, and Didier. We cut these tracks at Rarefied Recording for your listening pleasure. Presenting… Alvino & the Dwells.
They have been playing semi-regularly at Bar Pink in North Park for their Tiki Tuesday series, and we’re expecting to see them there again before too long. For those not in the know, Tuesdays are the best nights to go out in North Park in no small part because of the great live music.
Dave Fleminger – Lead Guitar (check out the multiple guitars and multiple reverb tanks)
Tony Suarez – (Baritone-ish) Guitar (even more reverb tanks)
Didier Suarez – Drums

Thank you again David for hosting The Dwells. It’s not a baritone ( i tune it in low E) and not A or B. Believe me, we tried, the scale of the neck is too long for chords and lower registered. It mimics the old Danelectro Bass VI’s, with more frets . Original Danelectros bass vi had 15 fret necks yet kept the longer scale! The later reissues and Baritones of the 90’s have 27″ scale necks. Original Danelectro bass vi’s also had some of the first roundwound bass strings on them (clarity?) and were used to add definition to the stand up basses, before the Fender Bass became standard in recording.
